Job Summary
The Manager of Operations & Camps is an integral member of the Washington International School Extended Learning (WISEL) team, focusing on the effective on-site management and coordination of the Extended Day Care (EDC) program and overseeing the schools’ primary-school day camp program. The incumbent serves as the Day Camp director at the Primary School campus for all vacation and summer camps. Reporting directly to the Director of Extended Learning, this position requires a high level of project management and program development as well as routine interaction with parents, faculty, staff, and outside vendors. They support the delivery of quality educational and recreational activities outside of the standard day-time curriculum. The Manager's schedule will generally align with the program's operating hours which will change depending on the season.
Duties and Responsibilities
Program Management:
Provide program oversight for all aspects of the before and after care programs, ensuring compliance with program quality expectations, policies, and safety measures; be present “in the field” during after school program hours.
Develop Extended Day Care (EDC) activities and programs that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development; train staff on implementation of programs.
Coordinate and schedule study hall faculty for Primary school students.
Coordinate logistics related to students after school tutoring sessions.
Design, plan, and implement all school-year camps including half-day camps, winter break camps, and spring break camps.
Develop, manage, and facilitate special family initiatives such as event childcare.
Provide management oversight for all aspects of the WISummer day camp program ensuring compliance with program quality expectations, policies, and safety measures; serve as day camp director during summer months.
Coordinate before and after school bus transportation for the Primary and Tregaron campuses.
Take lead on programmatic issues, including student behavior management issues as well as parent inquiries, complaints, and feedback regarding program offerings and staff performance, ensuring resolution in alignment with WISEL policies.
Maintain program budget; work with Director of Extended Learning to set budget, annually.
Assist with supervision of the morning AM-Care program as needed.
Supervision and Leadership:
Assist in the recruitment, training, and support of seasonal primary-school day camp staff.
Assist with supervision of Extended Day Counselors, including providing feedback for performance reviews and bringing staffing and personnel issues to the attention of the Director.
Develop strong rapport with students, parents, faculty, staff, vendors, and subcontractors to promote a supportive community environment.
Attend hiring and camp fairs as needed.
Administrative Duties:
Manage camp registration process including database management, recordkeeping, and family registration.
Accurately record and bill for ancillary charges such as late pick ups, drop in care, etc.
Provide content for the monthly WISEL newsletter.
Manage administrative tasks related to the program, including answering phones, managing email inbox, etc as appropriate.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education, recreation management, or related field, Master’s degree preferred.
3+ years of experience in summer programs program management and development.
Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Energetic team player who works well in collaborative situations; adept at navigating changing priorities and deadlines.
Outstanding organizational skills and problem-solving abilities; ability to manage multiple work flows simultaneously.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certifications.
Proficiency in French or Spanish is preferred.
Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the Manager may be exposed to weather conditions (e.g. playgrounds, parental pick-up line)
Work hours vary based on time of year and are to be coordinated with the Director in advance.

To perform the duties of this job, the employee must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; to exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; to hear and understand speech at normal levels, outdoors and on the telephone; to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly, outdoors and on the telephone; to exhibit physical agility to lift up to 35 pounds; to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead. May be required to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
