CHECK OUT WHAT NMH SUMMER TEACHING FELLOWS HAVE TO SAY:
“I think NMH has been perfecting the formula for their fellows for years, and it shows. The preparation was exceptional, the support was beyond compare, and the overall professionalism of the program was incredibly high. I have nothing to add that would improve the program. Great job!”
“NMH has been, hands down, one of the best work experiences I have ever had. As a teaching fellow, I felt more supported and more valued than I have at any other organization. The message that it is not only OK, but encouraged, to be a new teacher and not to pretend otherwise, to try things in the classroom and to fail, is so valuable for me at this point in my career. I really appreciated being able to discuss with other teachers the successes and failures that are a part of any day and to use that instant feedback in my own classroom. To be surrounded by experienced teachers who were dedicated to my success as a teaching fellow in addition to the success of the students was one of the most rewarding aspects of my time at NMH.”
“My experience at NMH Summer was not only rewarding in the connections I made with students and the team of faculty but also invaluable in deciding whether teaching is something I want to pursue long-term. Having this opportunity to work with students in and out of the classroom taught me how growth is not solely an educational endeavor but an overarching journey. Being present in the students’ dorm life, sports activities, and social lives made me realize the impact a boarding school environment provides and cemented for me a love of working with students. The team of faculty was highly impressive and influential to me as I think about finishing my last year of college and start looking towards the future. Being able to be a part of such a highly functioning and empathetic team of teaching fellows, lead teachers, and dorm staff inspired me to bring a level of enthusiasm, positivity, and compassion to all areas of my life going forward.”
“Throughout my entire time at NMH Summer, I felt like all of my colleagues — directors, office staff, house directors, lead teachers —proactively supported my experience and were interested in my success at NMH and in my future career as a teacher. What a fantastic layer to this program. It’s really about the kids, but also about supporting the fellows. I am very thankful for this.”
“I can't believe it's all over. I loved having the freedom to experiment and discover aspects of my teaching abilities in a real classroom setting. NMH Summer definitely prepared me for my upcoming job; I cannot express how grateful I am to this program for preparing me for what's next.”
