About Girls Preparatory School
The mission of Girls Preparatory School (GPS) is to inspire each girl to lead a life of integrity and purpose by engaging her mind, cultivating her strengths, and nurturing her self-confidence and respect for others. Currently, 130 faculty and staff serve approximately 500 girls in grades 6-12 with a college preparatory curriculum that includes a full complement of courses in the humanities, STEM, the arts, and more, as well as a rich and varied cocurricular program.
GPS prioritizes healthy connections and relationships, fostering a culture where each girl is known, heard, and empowered to use her voice. This culture of acceptance and belonging nurtures and lifts her up in mind, body, and spirit so that she can find her place and discover her potential, fostering confidence and joy for dynamic engagement in a rapidly changing world.
Faculty and staff support each student in a learner-centered and collaborative culture that is aligned with our mission, vision, and values. Furthermore, faculty and staff are expected to understand and embody our tenets of excellence.
Position Summary
The Director of Auxiliary Services and Summer Programs is responsible for developing, leading, and growing a dynamic portfolio of programs and experiences that extend the reach of GPS beyond the traditional school day and admission process. The Director’s primary charge is to create and sustain innovative, signature experiences that bring girls and families to GPS, provide meaningful exposure to the school’s people and programs, and continue building a strong pipeline of prospective students and families.
This role will lead a systematic strategy to pilot, evaluate, and deploy exposure experiences that give families compelling reasons to engage with GPS before—and outside of—the traditional admission funnel. These experiences should authentically showcase what distinguishes GPS: exceptional opportunities for girls, strong relationships and mentoring, academic curiosity, leadership development, athletics, arts, wellness, and a community designed to help girls thrive.
While auxiliary programs should be managed with sound financial stewardship, the success of this position will not be measured primarily by net program revenue. Rather, the Director will be accountable for the broader, multi-year value these programs create for GPS.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Athletics & Strategic Partnerships, this employee will be expected to take on leadership of the following areas of our school’s programming:
Summer Camp
Provide strategic and operational leadership for GPS Summer Camp, building upon successful programs while identifying opportunities for significant growth, innovation, and increased participation;
Develop a comprehensive portfolio of summer experiences, camps, clinics, workshops, and enrichment opportunities for girls across a broad range of ages;
Expand programming during the academic year, including opportunities during fall, winter, and spring breaks, weekends, and other times when GPS can serve girls and families beyond the traditional school day;
Oversee the planning, staffing, scheduling, registration, budgeting, safety, communication, and evaluation of auxiliary programs; and
Establish clear expectations, training, and accountability for faculty, staff, students, coaches, and others working within auxiliary programs.
Clinics
Partner with Athletics to develop and coordinate clinics, camps, tournaments, and other opportunities that introduce girls and families to GPS coaches, student-athletes, facilities, and programs;
Work across academic and co-curricular departments to identify GPS programs with the greatest potential for external engagement; and
Ensure that auxiliary offerings complement rather than compete with existing school programming and make thoughtful use of faculty expertise and campus resources.
Aquatics
Provide strategic and operational oversight of GPS aquatics, creating a coordinated approach to pool programming, staffing, scheduling, and community use that supports both school and auxiliary needs;
Oversee the development and delivery of auxiliary aquatics programming, including swim lessons, clinics, camps, and other opportunities that introduce girls and families to GPS and encourage continued engagement with the school;
Coordinate and support the various programs utilizing the pool, including GPS Dive Club and GPS/McCallie Swim Club, ensuring alignment, effective communication, thoughtful use of the facility, and a consistent GPS experience; and
Oversee the recruitment, scheduling, training, and accountability of lifeguards to ensure appropriate coverage for school, athletic, and auxiliary programming.
Tennis
Provide strategic support of Tennis Center operations in partnership with the Tennis Operations Coordinator, supporting a high-quality, welcoming experience for GPS students, families, and community participants;
Support the Tennis Operations Coordinator in developing and growing lessons, clinics, camps, and other programming that maximizes use of the Tennis Center and creates meaningful opportunities for girls and families to engage with GPS; and
Ensure Tennis Center programming and operations align with broader GPS auxiliary-programming, enrollment-engagement, financial, and community-building goals.
Financial and Operational Stewardship of Auxiliary Programming
Develop and manage annual budgets for summer and auxiliary programming;
Establish appropriate pricing strategies that balance accessibility, market demand, program quality, and financial sustainability;
Ensure programs are appropriately staffed and resourced and operate according to GPS policies and applicable safety and risk-management standards; and
Evaluate financial performance alongside broader strategic measures, recognizing that some programs may warrant investment because of their long-term enrollment or community-engagement value.
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred;
Minimum 3 years of experience developing, managing, or growing educational, youth, camp, auxiliary, enrichment, or community-engagement programs;
An entrepreneurial mindset and demonstrated ability to move ideas from concept to implementation;
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with children, parents, faculty, coaches, community partners, and prospective families;
Ability to think strategically about enrollment, marketing, customer experience, and community engagement; and
Commitment to the mission, values, and culture of Girls Preparatory School.
